| Camps at the Hazel Parker Playground June 6-10 Journey through Spain with Don Quixote Children will take a voyage around Spain learning about art (Picasso), dance (Flamenco), music and food! Children will get to make their own flamenco fans, maracas, Spanish flags and create their own Spanish meal! Using a simplified version of the classic book, Don Quixote, children will also learn about the characters of the story, different regions of Spain and Spanish words. June 27-July 1 The Adventures of Tintin One of the most popular children’s cartoons in France and around the world comes to life this year in the feature film by Steven Spielberg coming out this December. Tintin, a young Belgian reporter, is aided in his adventures by his faithful fox terrier dog Snowy (Milou in French). During this fun camp, we will follow Tintin on his many adventures around the world and even to the moon! Children will solve fun and challenging mysteries, learn about journalism, and even get to draw their own comic strips. We will talk about the artist and then children will get to re-create their own masterpiece in the style of the artist of the day! We will also be learning French and Spanish language in the process talking about colors, shapes, art materials and more! Camp Location: St. Andrew’s Dogwood Park, 1710 Dogwood Road August 8-12 Latin Dance Party Each day during this camp, children will focus on a different dance and rhythm! They will learn dances such as salsa, cha-cha and the meringue. In studying dance, children will also learn a lot about Latin American countries, culture, clothing and foods.
